I can honestly say that Fiji is one of the most stunning and enjoyable places I've been. The people, the food, the atmosphere.. it's all spectacular and I would go back in an instant.
Okay so the night before my flight out, most of us went out for a night on the town. We got all glammed up and had drinks at the QBar and watched the sunrise. ... Did I mention I hadn't finished packing? Hahahah! So at 5 a.m. on Nov. 21 (ha, you like that date recall, don't you!)I get back, throw everything into my suitcases, give Jess one last cuddle and Mom and I were off to catch the shuttle.
We got to Brisbane airport at 7:45 a.m. to find out that the locker hire wouldn’t fit our luggage and was ridiculously expensive to rent out for the week. Our trip to Fiji only included one checked bag.. and we had about 4 large suitcases in total.
Whatever, we sorted it out and then we checked in. So stressed and near tears.. it was nice to get on the plane.
Plane!
Plane food. Om nom nom!
Got into Nadi at 5 p.m. and checked into Awesome Adventures Fiji, which was the travel company we were with, and we got the shuttle to Smugglers Cove. That was our hostel for the evening in Nadi.
Nadi is actually pronounced "Nan-dee". Now you know. ahaha
Smugglers Cove was amazing! It's located right on the ocean have an awesome restaurant, pool, etc. We loved it. Mom and I got a small room but, it had an ensuite! I showered and we ate at the restaurant and had pizza with a Fijian beer.. yum yum! (P.S. I'm not editing a lot of what I wrote in Fiji.. it may be blunt and to the point, but it's funny!)
Fiji Beeeeer
First Fiji sunset!
Afterwards, a fire and traditional dance show was held and was unreal. Those boys were smoking hot. I participated in the group dance.. it was so much fun.
Nov. 22 (unedited.. hahahaha)
Up early to check out of Smugglers and to have a free breakfast – eggs with toast and fruit.
The shuttle to take us to Denarau Marina came at 7:15 a.m. – it was packed.
Arrived at the Marina at about 8 a.m. – checked our luggage and got our vouchers for the next few days.
Hopped on the Awesome Adventures Fiji yacht (which is bright yellow and purple) and headed off on our 5 hour trip through the Yasawas to get to Coral View Resort on the island of Tavewa.
The Boat at the marina!
AWESOME!
The map. We went all the way to the top!
The boat stops about 5 times on the way to drop off people at different resorts – your luggage goes on one little boat, and you go on another.. so cool.
Oh hurroooo!
Boats comin' to getcha!
We arrived at Coral View Resort at about 1 p.m. to the friendliness of greetings – all of the staff lined up along the shore to say Bula and introduce themselves.. these people are just so happy..
Coral View!
Our luggage on the boat.
Excitement :)
We then had lunch and were sung to by the staff and told about meal times and activities.
Lunchy.. omnomnom!
We checked into our Bure (#10) and it was amazing.. we have an ensuite and everything was decorated with local tropical flowers. I loved it.
After we changed.. it was off to the beach.. so crystal clear.
Got back from the beach.. hung out in the hammock.. lazed about.. had a nap until dinner at 7:30 p.m.
Dinner was a delicious buffet served again by the wonderful staff – after we were done eating (some of the fiji men played traditional music while we ate) it was “Bula” time!
One of the men introduced all the new guests and invited (well, MADE) everyone get up and participate in a traditional circle dance and then games.
I was paired up with a lovely Fijian woman who I danced with and then had to sing twinkle twinkle little star with.. Mom was also paired up and had to bark for 10 seconds.. so funny.
We were pretty exhausted after all that fun.. beautiful full moon that night.. off to bed!
xo
